Brittney's Going on Maternity Leave (And You're in Great Hands)

We have some happy news to share. Our own Brittney is having a baby, and she'll be stepping away from the chair for maternity leave beginning August 28th, returning November 10th.

If you've ever sat in her chair, you already know why we're going to miss her. Brittney has been part of the Maximum FX family since she apprenticed here back in 2016. She's the one you go to for a sharp bob or a textured pixie, for updos and braids before a wedding, for Vomor extensions and event makeup. More than any of that, she's the one who makes people feel beautiful and genuinely seen the moment they sit down. That's the part you can't teach.

So first things first: if Brittney is your stylist, join us in wishing her the absolute best. This is wonderful news, and she has earned every bit of this time with her new little one.

And second, if you're already wondering what this means for your next appointment, take a breath. You have nothing to worry about, and you have more than one good option.

Here's the Thing About How We're Built

At a lot of salons, a stylist going on leave sends clients scrambling. That's because at most places you get locked into one stylist, and seeing anyone else is quietly frowned upon. So when that person is out, you're on your own.

We don't like that, and we changed the rules a long time ago. Maximum FX is a team-based salon, and has been for over fifteen years. We work together as a team to take care of each other and our clients. There won't be invisible daggers flying across the room if you decide to see someone else while she's out. Your history, your formulas, your preferences, and the notes on what works for your hair are all right there for whoever takes care of you, so anyone on the team can pick up right where your stylist left off. Everyone is trained on the same techniques and held to the same standard.

What that means for you right now is simple. When Brittney steps away, you are not starting over with a stranger. You're handing your hair to someone who already works the way she does, in the same building, to the same standard.

"Whether you wait for Brittney or see someone new while she's out, you're still in good hands here. That never changes."

You Have Three Good Options — and There's No Wrong One

This is the part we really want you to hear. Whatever you choose, it's the right call, and there is zero judgment and zero weirdness attached to any of it.

1

Book Before She Leaves

Want to get in with Brittney one more time before August 28th? Wonderful. Call now and grab a spot while her book is still open — those last few weeks will fill up quickly.

2

Wait Until She's Back

Would you rather hold tight and pick right back up with her when she's back on November 10th? That's great too. She'll be thrilled to see you, and we'll help you stay on schedule in the meantime.

3

See Someone Else on the Team While She's Away

Don't want to wait, and don't want to stretch your color or your cut? Come see one of our other stylists at the same South Lamar location. No judgment, no weirdness — just another set of great hands who already knows the playbook.

The whole point of how we operate is that your schedule comes first, not ours. Life doesn't pause for a hair appointment, and it shouldn't have to.

Who Can Take Care of You While She's Away

If you'd like to come in while Brittney is out, here are three people we'd happily put you with. All three work at our South Lamar location, right alongside her — so you don't even have to change where you go.

Javier — Maximum FX Co-Owner & Stylist

Javier

Co-Owner & Haircutting Specialist

Behind the chair at Maximum FX since 1992 and a co-owner of the salon. He builds from classic shapes — men's hair, pixies, disconnected pixies, every kind of bob, and upstyling. Here's the part that matters most: Javier is the stylist who trained Brittney when she apprenticed here in 2016. If you love her work, you'll be right at home with the person who taught her.

Maria

Haircutting Specialist

Five years at Maximum FX and a true specialist in short cuts — bobs, pixies, shags, and the occasional mullet if she thinks you can pull it off. Her style is classy-meets-edgy, she's an Aveda Brand Ambassador, and she's Keratin Complex certified. In other words, the exact short-cut wheelhouse Brittney's clients already love.

Not sure who's the right fit? Just call us. Our guest services team knows every stylist's strengths and will match you with the person best suited to what you want — the same way we would if you were brand new and walking in for the first time.

And to Brittney: congratulations from all of us. Go soak up every minute. We'll keep your chair warm.
