Your educators

The people who run our floor.

Every Sunday Funday is taught by educators who use the technique on real clients the rest of the week.

  • Javier

    Owner, Haircutting Educator

Classic shapes as the foundation for everything else. Trained in Aveda cutting, with classes at Sassoon and Toni and Guy. At Maximum FX since 1992.

  • Erica

    Color Educator, Team Lead

The colorist the rest of the team asks first. Known for redheads and for color that reads natural. With the company since 2005.

  • Maria

    Haircutting Specialist, Educator

Short cuts and lots of layers. Bobs, pixies, shags, and yes, mullets. Texture styling with Kijani Ball, cutting with Cassandra Pena.

Precision Bob Masterclass

Three shapes. One morning.

Classic, graduated and every variation in between. The shapes every stylist gets asked for, broken back down to line, weight and interior.

  • Classic

One length, one clean line. The shape everything else is built out of, and the one that shows every mistake you make.

  • Graduated

Weight stacked through the back. Where the graduation starts is the whole cut, so that is where we slow down.

  • The variations

Long bobs, asymmetric shapes, and what has to change when the hair is curly rather than straight.

Other Sundays cover Men's Barbering and Hair Extensions. Get on the list once and you hear about all of them.

You will leave knowing

  • The classic bob, one length and one clean line
  • Graduated bobs and where the weight sits
  • Long bobs, asymmetric shapes and curly variations
  • Choosing the right bob for the texture and the face
  • Live demos of line creation and refinement
How the morning runs

Doors open at ten. Out by twelve.

Two hours, and you are never more than a few feet from the work.

10:00

Doors, coffee and snacks

Come in, grab a seat at the styling table, meet whoever is already there.

10:15

The class

One technique, taught slowly, with a live demo you are close enough to see properly.

11:15

Ask us anything

Time with the educators for the questions school does not get to, including the awkward ones about starting out.

11:45

Tour and door prizes

Walk the floor, see the color bar and the back of house, leave with something.

What it is

Come spend a Sunday on our floor.

Sunday Funday is our open class for students who are still in school. You get one technique taught properly, start to finish, by educators who use it on real clients every week. You get to stand over the demo instead of watching it on a screen.

The other half is the room itself. A salon on a Sunday morning before it opens, and the things you only pick up by standing in one. What a real floor looks like. How a team actually talks to each other. What the first year behind the chair is like from people who remember it.

You just show up. Snacks, drinks and door prizes are on us.

What to bring
Yourself and something to take notes on. That is it. We have everything else.
Parking
Free, in the garage at 1414 S. Lamar. Come to the South Lamar location, not Circle C.
How many spots
We keep the group small on purpose so everyone can see the demo. Spaces are limited.
Questions
Text us at (512) 714 2303. We answer faster than email and we do not mind the small questions.
After the class

No pressure. But the door is open.

Plenty of students come to one class, learn a technique and we never see them again, and that is a completely fine outcome. Some come back. A few end up working here. If you are graduating soon and you want to know what it is like to build a career in this room, say so on the day and we will make time for it.
