Halloween Hair. To Dye for or Not?
Every year enthusiastic clients ask us to make their Halloween hair dreams come true. But is it worth it to change your hair for a costume?
It depends.
Hair color is a fun way to transform your look. If you have been thinking about changing your hair color, we always say go for it! But keep in mind that even semi-permanent hair color will not completely wash out. If you are coloring over blonde hair, bleach will be needed to return to your original blonde color. Make sure if you are changing your hair color, you are ready for a more permanent change.
If you are interested in a fantasy color (think pink, blue, silver) remember that these colors require a lot of maintenance. If you are a low maintenance client you might not love the upkeep. As always you can schedule a consultation with one of our color experts to answer more questions.
What about sprays, waxes, and chalks?
These are great temporary color options! Just be aware that bleached or porous hair might grab on to temporary color a bit more so the color might last through several washes or tint the hair requiring detoxing to remove. Hair chalks tend to be the easiest way to add color to your hair and wash out easily. They are also safe for children!
Wigs and hair extensions
The easiest way to change your hair for your costume is a wig or clip in hair piece. These are damage free and come in a variety of price points. If you have long hair, make sure you grab a wig cap as well to help wrangle your own hair under the wig.
Happy Haunting!
