We have been doing this long enough to know what most people want when they sit down. A little off the ends, same shape, nothing anybody at work is going to comment on. That is a real haircut and we do a lot of them.

She works out of our Circle C Ranch location, and the appointment she looks forward to all week is the one where somebody finally sits down and says cut it off.

The Big Chop Is the Whole Point
Martha grew up here. She got through beauty school while she was still in high school, graduated in 2019, and spent four years at another salon before she came to us. Somewhere in there she took barbering classes, and she has done haircutting and styling coursework through Aveda since.
All of that shows up in her short work. Men's cuts, fades, clipper work. That is precision cutting. A quarter inch off and the whole line reads wrong, and you can see it from across the room whether you know anything about hair or not.
She does keratin smoothing and makeup as well, which is what people tend to book when there is a wedding coming up or they are tired of spending twenty minutes on their hair every morning.

A big change is the appointment people sit on the longest. You have to live with it while it grows back, and that is a real thing to weigh. Martha knows it as well as anybody. She still lights up every single time somebody commits.
What It's Like in Her Chair
Martha is a talker, and we mean that as a compliment. She is curious about people. Ask about her own life and you will get painting, drawing, crochet, anything she can do with her hands, and then she turns it around and asks about yours.
All that conversation is doing work. Somebody who wants a tight fade and will be back in three weeks to keep it sharp needs a different cut than somebody who needs it to still look right at week six. Martha figures out which one you are before she picks up the clippers.
She likes the styling as much as the cutting, which on a short cut matters more than it sounds. Making hair look good in the chair is the easy part. She wants it to look right when you are doing it yourself on a Tuesday morning.
Plenty of people sit down still undecided, and Martha is happy to spend the time talking it through. She loves a big change more than just about anybody, but not enough to push you into one you are not ready for.
Off the Clock
The painting and the crochet are worth mentioning for a reason. Clipper work is close, quiet, repetitive and exact. In our experience the people who are good at it are almost always people who like making things with their hands, and Martha is doing that whether she is at work or not.
The rest of the time she is a homebody. Her idea of a good night is her cat, her dog and a true crime documentary.
She is also a twin. Her sister is two minutes older, they are close, and Martha will tell you there have been times she is fairly sure the two of them read each other's minds. Ask her about it sometime.
