Winter Weather and your Skin

Now that winter is slowly creeping up on us, it's time to change your skin care routine...

It's always around this time of year that I notice the skin on my face and hands are noticeably flaky and drier to the touch. There are several factors to take into consideration, less humidity in the air, indoor heating can really affect the skin, and excessive hand washing to ward of cold and flu germs.

A few tips to keep in mind to help your skin from feeling like you're petting a lizard are to immediately moisturize your skin after cleansing. I'd recommend using a heavier moisturizer than you would normally use in the summertime. Exfoliate only once a week rather than the recommended three to four times during the summer (assuming you are using a gentle, daily exfoliant like the Aveda Tourmaline Exfoliating Cleanser), and lastly consider switching to a gentle cleanser (try the Aveda All Sensitive Cleanser) a few times a week if you notice your skin not improving or feeling more dehydrated. And lastly, now is the time to think about getting a body scrub/wrap, like the Rosemary Mint Body Wrap. It's the perfect solution for exfoliating away all of the summers sweat and dry, dull skin.

Your body will Thank You :)
