Behind every successful company is a team of amazing people! Meet Linda! Linda's hometown is Ayr, Scotland! Yep, all the way from Scotland. When clients notice Linda's accent, they always ask where she's from. She likes to joke and tell them she's from Lubbock, Texas! Linda just celebrated her three year anniversary at Maximum FX. Linda made her way to the States after she accepted a position with FedEx in Scotland. It was at FedEx where she was introduced to her husband who was working in Austin. It seems fitting that FedEx would ultimately be the catalyst that brought two people together from near opposite sides of the planet! That was almost 10 years ago. After leaving FedEx, she accepted a position with Aveda Corporation and worked in the Aveda Experience Center located in Barton Creek Mall. When she began looking for a change outside of the mall, she found MFX and we've been together ever since! Linda is our General Manager at our Circle C Ranch location. We asked Linda a few questions so that you could get to know her better, and here’s what she had to say:
1) Why did you choose to join this industry?
I love looking and feeling good & I enjoy working with young people.
2) What is your favorite part of your job?
3) What do you like to do for fun outside of work?
Shopping! Exercise, dancing and cooking.
4) What motivates you?
Having a specific goal and achieving it. I like meeting challenges head on!
5) Who is your favorite celebrity and why?
Billy Connally - comedian - makes me laugh so hard at real life situations.
6) What attracted you to Maximum FX?
Aveda and the people! I was also interested in learning new skills as a manager and leader.
7) What advice would you give someone who’s thinking about making a career in the salon/spa industry?
Be competitive with yourself and gain as much knowledge and experience as you can -- develop your skills so you are successful in all you do!
What is your favorite Aveda product and why?
Hand Relief - Love the aroma and its healing qualities.
9) Who has had the greatest influence on your career and why?
My Grandfather - his stories about WWI just chilled me. He was so brave!
10) Share one thing interesting about yourself that people typically don’t know about you.
As a child, I was an ice dancer. I also competed in dance and loved horseback riding.
