Lend A Helping Hand: Pink Ribbon Hand Relief Supports Breast Cancer Research
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Aveda is donating to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
Aveda cares about those affected by breast cancer, so we donate $4 from the sale of each special-edition Pink Ribbon Hand Relief™ product, up to a maximum of $270,000, to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation® to support cruelty-free research. The foundation is an independent, not-for-profit organization founded in 1993 by Evelyn H. Lauder, dedicated to funding clinical and genetic breast cancer research at medical institutions worldwide.
Because Aveda cares about our environment and the animals who share it, donations from Aveda North America fund cruelty-free research* that explores environmental causes and links to breast cancer, like exposure to toxic chemicals and pollutants. For many years now, we've funded a specific research project at Columbia University that studies the relationship between environmental exposures and genetic susceptibility to breast cancer. In 2011 the project has evolved to include research to help better understand when breast cancer susceptibility begins.
Together, we're making a difference. Since 2004, Aveda has supported a contribution of over $1.83 million to the Foundation. It's money that comes not only from corporate contributions, but also from employees and guests who donate through Aveda network fundraising activities each October.
More than 88 cents of each dollar donated to the Foundation goes directly to research and awareness programs.
