Everyone always wants to look like they just stepped out of the salon, whether you are blazing out the door to get to work or all dressed up for a hot date. Here are some quick styling and beauty tips that willl save you time and will keep you always looking your best. Trust me, they are worth a try.

  • Shadow first, followed by foundation.

When applying makeup start by applying your eye shadow powders first. After completing the perfect smokey eye, take a face towel or make up removing wipe and clean under your eyes and cheeks. This will prevent left over shadows that have fallen from sticking to your foundation or concealer.

  • Wash those bangs!

The Texas heat can seriously take its toll on our hair. It can cause our scalp to over produce oils which leaves your hair looking greasy, limp and lifeless, especially in the fringe area. If you want to refresh your look without having to shampoo your entire head, just shampoo your bangs! Take a bobby pin or a clip and section out your fringe area while keeping your remaining hair pulled back in a ponytail or shower cap. When washing your face or while showering, release the fringe area from your bobby pin and lightly shampoo your bangs. Style your bangs as usual.

  • Curl your hair away from your face.

For flawless effortless curls that softly frame your face, wrap your hair in the curing iron with the clamp facing the mirrior. Roll your hair in the curling iron AWAY from your face. This will prevent the hair from falling in funny directions and open up your face beautifully. Repeat on opposite side of the head.

Everyone always wants to look like they just stepped out of the salon, whether you are blazing out the door to get to work or all dressed up for a hot date. Here are some quick styling and beauty tips that willl save you time and will keep you always looking your best. Trust me, they are worth a try.

  • Add texture to your hair on your “dirty” days.

We are always told we shouldn’t wash our hair every day. By washing our hair everyday, shampoo has a tendency to dry out our hair. Which in turn causes our scalp to over produce oils. By adding texture to your hair on your “dirty” day it will hide oils and help break the shampoo cycle. On the first day, or after shampooing wear a sleek straight do. On the second day wrap it up in some rollers or take a curl rod to it! And if you plan on giving your mane a break for a third day pull it back in cute stylish ponytail.

  • A little cheek color can take you a long way.

No one expects you to wear a full face of stage makeup on a daily basis. If you are blazing out of the house to run a few errands, add a little bit of bronzer or blush to your cheek bones.  It will just add enough color and give you a little life.

  • Organize your blow dry!

For better results when blow drying your hair, part your hair into three sections. Take a horseshoe parting at the top, one in the middle and one at the bottom. Use clips to secure each section as you work your way from the bottom to the top.  Breaking down your blow dry will help you achieve salon-worthy results.

As we head into the spring, bright colors are all around. This is the perfect time to incorporate these vibrant hues into our wardrobe or everyday look. If you aren’t comfortable walking around looking like a box of highlighters we can add that perfect Pop Of Color or P.O.C. that will keep you on trend the rest of the season! Its all about the element of surprise or the unexpected. Keep people wanting more!

High fashion P.O.C. practitioners add color into their wardrobe by pairing their favorite L.B.D. (little black dress) with mustard yellow pumps, or an every day business suit with a flashy jeweled toned top. If you are little more daring and ready to add a P.O.C. into your every day look, we are here to help!

Bright colors can be added to your mane in various ways. If you aren’t as bold as Katy Perry and her blueberry locks, you might be more inclined to do something a little less drastic. Jordin Sparks was recently spotted sporting a more wearable version of the trend with bold purple highlights. Dip dying, Ombre coloring, peek-a-boo hightlights, color accents, color blocking or color paneling are sure to give anyone the perfect P.O.C.

In mid February Aveda launched pure pigment hair color. These include red, yellow, blue, orange, green, and violet. The punchy colors are less fade resistant and allow colorists to create any color that exists! Each formula is customized for every client to be as subtle or bold as desired. With these striking colors and dramatic placement can be tailored to best suit your personal style. Book your color consultation today!

How can I brighten my blonde hair color with shampoo and conditioner?

By: Cassie Ward, Hair Color Expert – Circle C Ranch Location
Is the thought of putting a purple pigmented shampoo over your golden blonde locks a scary thought? It shouldn’t be! Understanding why our color turns brassy and how a purple shampoo can fix it will give you the confidence to pick up your own bottle of Aveda’s Blue Malva Shampoo and Conditioner! Blue Malva shampoo and conditioner are at home hair care products that can help brighten our blondes and eliminate unwanted brassy tones, sometimes after only a single use!

A few things cause brassy tones. One way we may get brassy results is when lightening the hair. When color is removed from the hair it leaves behind yellow and red pigments. This is usually corrected at the salon by using a semi-permanent toner; semi-permanent means it will slowly fade between appointments. Brass is also caused by simply shampooing the hair. Tap water has chlorine and iron deposits that can build up a orangey or brassy tone. This also causes the color to fade and appear dull.

Complementary colors are pairs of colors that are opposite from each other on the color wheel. In color theory, two colors are called complementary if, when mixed in the proper proportion they produce a neutral color. This is why a purple shampoo is the answer to all of our prayers! The violet pigment coats the hair strand neutralizing the brassiness and restoring our color to its full glory!

Blue Malva Shampoo is a shampoo that neutralizes brassy tones in all shades of hair. It can be used daily or alternated with Aveda Color Conserve. While it gently cleanses the hair and scalp, blue malva and cornflower work together to add moisture and intensify color. Blue Malva Conditioner should be paired with the shampoo for the best results. The conditioner leaves the hair shiny, silky, and manageable. After shampooing work the conditioner through the hair leaving it on for 2-3 minutes, or until desired tone is reached.

Next time your colorist suggest you take home a bottle of the Blue Malva you will have a better understanding how this will help brighten your hair up and keep that color looking fresh. So don’t be afraid!

Ask Cassie – Blow Dry or Air Dry?

Should the hair be blow dried or air dried?
It is a matter of preference, actually. Some people will devote time to styling their hair, or want to achieve the maximum styling they can get for their hair, so they opt for blow-drying it. On the other hand, there are some people who think that blow-drying is a waste of electricity and is the quickest way of damaging the hair, so they opt to have it air dried.

Which is better, you may ask?
Both ways of drying the hair have their advantages and disadvantages, and there are proper and improper ways of doing both. Read on and find out what these are.

Air drying.
Air drying is usually done by people who have short and low-maintenance hairstyles, or by people with curly hair. There are also people who have long hair yet have their hair air dry, as air drying does not subject the hair to excessive heat. Therefore, the hair is not as susceptible to damage as hair that is blow dried. If you are going to have your hair air dried, it is very important to remember that the hair is at its weakest when it is wet. So, take care not to rub your hair dry with the use of a towel. The friction caused by rubbing the hair with a towel will make the hair brittle and eventually break. Rather than rubbing it, you should instead blot the moisture out of your hair with the towel. Also, be careful not to tug or pull at your hair that much when it is still wet. Once the water is blotted out of the hair, fluff it out with your fingers.

Blow Drying.
Blow drying the hair is the most convenient way of doing it, and because most people live fast-paced lives, blow drying the hair is the way most people want to do it. Moreover, drying the hair using a blower adds volume to the hair. But in as much that blow drying is very convenient, it is also dangerous to the hair, especially if overdone. It can make the hair very brittle. If you blow dry your hair, make sure that it is not soaking wet. Blot the water out with a towel first. Always use a heat protectant in the hair such as the Aveda Damage Control spray. It helps protect against thermal damage, reduces breakage from combing, and helps protect against UV damage. Do not hold the dryer too close to your head; keep it at least six inches away from your hair and move the dryer constantly around your head. Protect the outer strands of your hair from being over-dried by bending over and blow drying your hair with your hair hanging upside down.
Whether you air dry your hair or you blow dry it is completely your own choice based on your own lifestyle and preferences. But whatever you do, always remember that the hair is fragile. Be careful while handling it.
