Last week I was making the trek home during rush hour and I found that the littlest thing was sending me into a blind rage! After screaming in my car about proper merging etiquette, I came to the realization that I was beyond stressed! While driving can be a stressful experience, especially here in Austin, the stress from my everyday life had finally sent me over the edge and the red Volvo in front of me was going to hear about it! If you are like me stress is a normal part of your life. We have learned to deal with it and have come to the realization that we are going to be stressed out about work, school, the kids, weddings, parties, you name it! This is why I was so excited when Aveda launched their new product line, Stress Fix.

The fragrances in these products are clinically proven, yes, you read that right, to relieve stress! Here at South Congress we are all very excited about the fun, new Holland collection from OPI! Featuring 12 new OPI shades, it is definitely one of my favorite collections in a long time! Recently I have noticed clients sporting bolder and more visually intriguing nail colors. This collection is right on trend with bold, unique, and shimmery notice me shades!

Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI’s Executive Vice President and Artistic Director says, “each hue blends the country’s picturesque palette with spring’s most sought-after fashions.” The collection features three wonderful electric shades in orange, hot pink and red (Roll in the Hague, Kiss Me on My Tulips, and Red Lights Ahead….Where?). For the softer side, Pedal Faster Suzi, I Don’t Give a Rotterdam!, and, I have a Herring Problem gives the collection a softer shimmery pink and two soft yet eye catching shimmery blues. For the lady who loves neutrals there is something for you as well! Gouda Gouda Two Shoes is neutral rose, while Wooden Shoe like to Know is a stunning shimmery taupe with loads of personality and Did You ‘Ear About Van Gogh is a sandy toned nude. For someone looking for a little edge, Dutch You Just Love OPI and one of my personal favorites, Vampsterdam add a medium toned plum as well as a “vampy” shimmery deep purple to the collection! My favorite color, which I am rocking right now is Thanks a Windmillion, a sea green that reminds me of a mermaid’s tail!

Pucker Up! The perfect accessory for your little black dress!

Sometimes the right accessory for your little black dress is not jewelry, sometimes all you need is the perfect bold lipstick to make you stand out. Here’s a step by step guide to help you put your best lips forward.
Step 1: Exfoliate your lips. You can use a toothbrush, washcloth, clean mascara wand, or Aveda’s liquid exfoliant.
Step 2: To prevent the lipstick from bleeding dab concealer around the perimeter of your lips. If your lipstick tends to bleed a lot, also use a clear lip liner.
Step 3: While looking in a mirror, apply the lip color to both upper and lower lip with a lip brush. Do not apply while driving on a bumpy street (not pretty)!
Step 4: To avoid getting pesky red lipstick teeth just put your finger in your mouth, purse your lips around it, then pull it out. Voila! Excess lip color is now on your finger instead of your teeth. Remember to wash off your finger.
Step 5: Blot lips. Lightly apply a bit of translucent powder over your lipstick followed by one more coat of lipstick. This helps set your lipstick so it lasts longer.
