Sometimes the right accessory for your little black dress is not jewelry, sometimes all you need is the perfect bold lipstick to make you stand out. Here’s a step by step guide to help you put your best lips forward.
Step 1: Exfoliate your lips. You can use a toothbrush, washcloth, clean mascara wand, or Aveda’s liquid exfoliant.
Step 2: To prevent the lipstick from bleeding dab concealer around the perimeter of your lips. If your lipstick tends to bleed a lot, also use a clear lip liner.
Step 3: While looking in a mirror, apply the lip color to both upper and lower lip with a lip brush. Do not apply while driving on a bumpy street (not pretty)!
Step 4: To avoid getting pesky red lipstick teeth just put your finger in your mouth, purse your lips around it, then pull it out. Voila! Excess lip color is now on your finger instead of your teeth. Remember to wash off your finger.
Step 5: Blot lips. Lightly apply a bit of translucent powder over your lipstick followed by one more coat of lipstick. This helps set your lipstick so it lasts longer.
